MELSOM Social Impact Investments (“M-SII”) is an investment vehicle targeting the not-for-profit sector and focuses on delivering social in combination with financial return.
Our investment mandate is aimed to alleviate poverty through access to financial services and business development knowledge and provide children with equal access to education. Our long term aim is to contribute to an affordable basic level of education and healthcare for all. Investment opportunities are subjected to their ability to meet:
- long term financial and social sustainability (also after the investment fund has withdrawn),
- scalability,
- a demonstrable market need and
- cultural fit considerations.
M-SII does not provide grants and donations to individuals, organisations or (potential) businesses. It makes investments geared to generate both social and financial returns. Financial returns are either re-invested in the investee or re-deployed to other investment opportunities.
